Scuba Diving Key Largo Is The Key To Fun

Scuba diving Key Largo style is a unique opportunity. Located in the northern Florida Keys chain of islands, Key Largo is the largest of the Keys at 33 miles long. The string of islands extends from southwestern Florida out into the Gulf of Mexico. The Florida Keys are considered to be the unofficial dividing line between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Because the Keys are themselves old coral reefs, scuba diving Key Largo is likely to be an excellent experience. The island bills itself as the "Diving Capital of the World."

The Everglades National Park is located northwest of Key Largo. The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is east of the island. This state park was the first designated underwater park in the United States. Furthermore, it contains the only living barrier coral reef of the continental United States. The Everglades comprises a marshy area full of vegetation and little open water. The Coral Reef State Park, however, is a prime destination for those desiring to go scuba diving Key Largo style.

Sports fishing is a popular activity in the Keys. If you plan to do some spear fishing during your scuba diving Key Largo requires you to obtain a fishing license. Contact the local tourism board before your trip and submit your application and fee. Don't spoil your vacation by being fined for fishing without a license! Furthermore, certain protected and endangered species are prohibited. Learn which species these are before your scuba diving Key Largo trip.

One of the best ways to view the fantastic coral is during a night dive. This is not something you should attempt yourself. Instead, locate a reputable diving company, which will probably provide this service to a group. It is said that sunlight washes out the natural colors of the coral. A night dive will reveal a rainbow landscape unlike anything you've ever seen. If you have an underwater video recorder, be sure it will be able to record during your night scuba diving Key Largo trip.

Biscayne National Park is a United States National Park in southern Florida. Designated as a national park to preserve Biscayne Bay, the park is one of the top scuba diving Key Largo destinations, or even in the entire U.S. The reefs can be viewed by scuba diving or snorkeling. Glass-bottom boat tours are available. More adventurous visitors can rent kayaks, although most prefer scuba diving Key Largo's excellent underwater national park.

When diving in a national park, observe the rules and regulations. Such parks were established to protect the area they contain. Don't remove anything from the park, nor should you leave anything behind. When you go scuba diving Key Largo style, the only thing you should take home are memories.
